Description
Red cherry shrimp are easily one of the best shrimp for beginners. These shrimp are really hardy, have a beautiful red color, and are easily the most common type of neocaridina shrimp in the hobby. With there vibrant red coloring, they are easily spotted on black or white substrate. To care for these shrimp, do small water changes weekly to every two weeks. Having plants in fish tanks are always beneficial, especially for shrimp. Plants add more surface area, allowing more biofilm to build up (biofilm grows on everything in the fish tank). Not only do plants add surface area, they also suck up nitrates, which are poisonous to the shrimp. Nitrate is produced through fish waste as well as uneaten food. Nitrates are the reason why you need to do water changes, if your aquarium is cycled. Red cherry shrimp do a great job at eating uneaten fish food, as well as slimy biofilm that grows in your aquarium. Red cherry shrimp are amazing shrimp for beginners, as well as experienced hobbyists.
